Lotus Survival Foundation, a support group for breast cancer survivors and those suffering with the disease, are hosting their inaugural Mind, Body and Soul Retreat at the Beach House and Suites by the Don Cesar. Fifty guests of the Foundation from various states and other nations, including Ecuador and Spain, arrived Sunday, May 22, and have been attending daily seminars and wellness programs, which will continue through Wednesday, May 24.
Topics ranging from Handling Your Feelings, Dealing with Your Taxes during Your Sickness, Facing The Mirror, and others regarding the effects of breast cancer on the body have been featured, as well as Laughing Yoga exercise sessions on the beach at dawn. The retreat concluded on Thursday, May 25.
Lotus Survival Foundation was founded in 2010 by breast cancer survivor Claudia Tovar de Aguirre, as a support group for breast cancer survivors and those currently suffering with the illness. This week’s Retreat is being offered to members and their guests as a means of gathering for the purpose of benefiting from each other’s experiences and to learn ways to cope with and triumph over the challenges faced by those suffering from the disease. A “scholarship” program conducted by The Lotus Survival Foundation awarded complete retreat packages to attendees who otherwise would have been unable to attend.
